Foxtail Millet Recipes
Foxtail Millet Nutritious Pepper Pongal
Foxtail Millet Rice – a cup
Pasi Paruppu – ¼ Cup
Pepper – 2 Spoon
Cirakam – 2 Spoon
Himalayan Salt – As Required
Ghee – 1 Tablespoon
Curry leaves – Required Qty
Ginger – Small Qty
Cashew – 5 Nos
Squash Ginger, grate it and chop finely.
Fry Pasi peruppu in a pan.
Put the Foxtail Millet rice and Fried Pasi perupu in a cooker and add cumin, ginger, salt and 4 cups of water and let it boil.
Leave the ghee in the frying pan, add the cashews, curry leaves, Mix it with pongal and serve.
Nutritious Pepper Pongal Ready
Foxtail Millet Upma
1 cup Foxtail Millet or Thinai 1 cup
1 tbsp Woodpressed Oil
1 tsp Chana Dal
3 nos Red Chillies
1 1/2 cups Water
Himalayan Salt/Indhu Uppu
Wash Foxtail Millet and then Soaking it 20 to 30 Minutes
Heat 1 Tablespoon oil in a Pan, add 1 tablespoon Chana Dal,Little amount of mustard Seed with 3 Red chillies. Allow the mustard to Crackle, add Small amount of asafoeitida
Add Grated ginger and curry leaves now add the Soaked Foxtail Millet mix Well,allow to cook for a few minutes untile water evaporates
Now Transfer this in to a pressure cooker vessel and add water ( 1 Cup Foxtail Millets : 1.5 Cup Water) mix well allow pressure cook for 4 or 5 whistles.
Once pressure is settled, open the lid Now tasty Upma is ready.
